Windows & Doors

Check each and ever window closely, you are looking for missing screens or broken window glass.

If the windows are roll down type, windows be aware they are not energy efficient windows and your heating and cooling bills will be higher until windows are replaced.

Many window specialists charge less than $300 per window for replacement  times the number of windows you have in your home, they count up fast.

Count them to make sure! If you see an oil tank in the back of the home you will know that you have oil heat and possible a gas stove.

The next point of inspection is the front door, at first glance we want to see if there is a storm door and if it opens and closes correctly.

Take the time to inspect the door plunger to make sure it is not bent or tearing away from the door frame or storm door itself, check that the door shuts tightly and that the door is square in the frame of the door.

At the same time check the outdoor light switch to make sure it operates correctly.
Check the door knob and dead bolt to see if they are both in working order.

From the inside check for gaps when the door is closed. The gaps can be easily filled with weather stripping that you can purchase at any local hardware store. Do the same as above for the rear door.
Practice this going in and out of your own home so you can become familiar with the process.
